The Dream Team Food styling

[by Earle Hatsumy]

So our first task was to do some food styling stuff. It wasn’t really new to me since I did try some amateur food styling on my food blog before. But it was still challenging because we had to transform an ordinary street food into a gourmet. So we had to work on banana street foods-Maruya, Turon, Banana Cue.

Food Styling: First day

The original plan was to shoot the whole thing in one day. But due to some ice cream issues, we had to re-shoot the day after.

So first of course is the preparation. Our theme was basically white and gold (treasury, elegant and stuff). And we also had our Maruya prepared for the first shoot. So here are some BTS. [Photos from Francis Manuel and Nix Gonzales]

Sorry for my hair. We were in a hurry so no time to waste! (Not even a time to fix ourselves. lol.)

So after we table set we made a huge mess on the table. =P

Nix and I have joined forces to take good shots. It was a good thing really.

After we shoot the first two sets, it was time to eat! Rawr! Fun shot with Francis & pretty Nix. (Hey Francis! Go easy on the scoop dude. laughs!)

Food Styling: Second day

The second day was productive and playful. The work was easier because we already know what to do. However, there was a problem with our cook, so I had no choice but to cook the whole set myself. (Fast fact: I style but I don’t cook!)

Oh well, the cooking thing was a success though, good job for a first timer! Yay for me!

Thanks to dear Nix who helped me with the styling. Joined forces once again. We prepared our last two sets and roll! [BTS Photos from Nix Gonzales]

My ugly hands. Lol. [Photo by Nix Gonzales]

Again, sorry for my not-so-fixed self. This was taken after the shoot. I was a bit tired and yes, I wasn’t wearing any ‘make’.

After the shoot it’s eating time for us once again. All our sets were completely edible so our tummies were full of bananas for two consecutive days!

After the shoot, we also did two funny videos just to release our stress. The first vid was some sort of food tasting stuff we did while eating and the other was a dance performance. lol! I wasn’t able to get a copy of the first vid but here’s a little snapshot of the dance video. And we call it Teach me how to Food Style. (Yeah I did dance.laughs) Maybe next time we’ll try to publish it. :D
